Technical Writer

[Company Name] is hiring a Technical Writer to create world-class documentation that helps developers understand and adopt our products quickly. You will write API references, onboarding guides, tutorials, and conceptual overviews while working closely with engineering and product teams to ensure accuracy. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong writing skills with the technical curiosity to learn complex systems and explain them clearly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain developer-facing documentation including API references, quickstart guides, and conceptual overviews
  • Create step-by-step tutorials and code samples that demonstrate product features and common use cases
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to document new features, breaking changes, and migration paths
  • Develop and maintain a documentation style guide and information architecture
  • Review and edit documentation contributions from engineers for clarity, consistency, and accuracy
  • Gather user feedback on documentation through analytics, surveys, and support ticket analysis
  • Manage documentation tooling, version control, and publishing workflows

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for developer audiences
  • Strong understanding of software development concepts including APIs, SDKs, and deployment workflows
  • Proficiency with documentation-as-code tools and workflows (Markdown, Git, static site generators)
  • Ability to read and understand code in at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python, or similar)
  • Experience creating and maintaining API reference documentation (OpenAPI / Swagger)
  • Excellent English writing skills with a focus on clarity, precision, and developer empathy

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with docs-as-code platforms (Docusaurus, GitBook, ReadMe, or MkDocs)
  • Familiarity with UX writing and information architecture principles
  • Background in software engineering or a computer science education
  • Experience with localization and internationalization of documentation
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices for technical content
